A total of 400,000 apartment units are projected to be delivered across the country this year – a record high – according to Marcus & Millichap. Only 250,000 units are expected to be absorbed, marking the second year in a row that supply would outpace demand. That means rents won’t climb as much as they had in each of the past two years and vacancies will increase.
