The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funded only 142 multifamily and seniors-housing loans with a balance of $2.76 billion during its third fiscal quarter, which ended June 30. That’s 8 percent less than it had originated during its second fiscal quarter and is more than 50 percent less than the $6.02 billion that was originated during the same period last year.
