The average monthly rent during the second quarter for an apartment unit in a class-A property was $660 million less than the typical monthly mortgage payment, according to Marcus & Millichap. That’s resulted in millennials – those born between 1981 and 1996 – who otherwise would be in their peak home-buying years, to delay any purchases. It also bodes well for the apartment sector, which is facing unprecedented supply additions.
