Last year, private-equity and venture capital investors plowed only $20.73 billion into the global commercial real estate sector, a drop of 60.2 percent from 2021, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence. And through May of this year, only $3.51 billion has been invested in the sector, indicating that this year could see another similar drop in volume.
