A sharp increase in activity by CMBS lenders during the second quarter pushed overall commercial mortgage lending activity higher by 3 percent when compared with a year earlier. The Mortgage Bankers Association, meanwhile, expects total lending for the year will increase by 26 percent from 2023, to $539 billion.
